2017 marks the 50th anniversary of the Summer of Love, which occurred when 100,000 people flocked to the Haight-Ashbury area of San Francisco in 1967. We know these free thinkers as hippies, and they’re responsible for one of the 20th century’s most transformative cultural movements. If you want to relive that summer of 50 years ago, join City Tour San Francisco for our new Love, Peace & Haight Walking Tour as part of your hop on hop off tour.

Delve into the legendary history of San Francisco “cool” as we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Summer of Love in one of San Francisco’s most eclectic and entertaining districts. Enjoy the sights and sounds of the streets that inspired so many great artists and see why so many of them called The Haight, home.

-Gold Rush Daze Walking Tour:

Join our master storytellers as they bring real life accounts of San Francisco’s riveting past to life! Walk in the footsteps of the notorious and sometimes sordid characters that created the city by the bay. Our Gold Rush Daze Walking tour will take you through some of the city’s most historic neighborhoods.
Discover the history of San Francisco’s Chinatown, the oldest Chinatown in North America and the largest Chinese enclave outside of Asia. Established in 1848, it has been highly important and influential in the history and culture of ethnic Chinese immigrants in North America. San Francisco’s Chinatown is a major tourist attraction, drawing more visitors annually than the Golden Gate Bridge.
San Francisco’s Barbary Coast was a red-light district during the second half of the 19th and 20th centuries which featured dance halls, concert saloons, bars, jazz clubs, variety shows and plenty of adult entertainment. Another popular source of entertainment in the Barbary Coast were female impersonators.
