Asian Art Museum
  • San Francisco City Loop

The Asian Art Museum is unquestionably one of the most important museums in San Francisco and owes its origin to a donation to the city by Chicago millionaire Avery Brundage, who was a major collector of Asian art. This museum is home to one of the most complete collections of Asian art in the world, with a collection spanning cultures from Turkey to India and China to the Philippines through 6,000 years. Until 2003, the museum shared a space with the de Young Museum in Golden Gate Park and now it is located near the Civic Center Plaza.
